You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.
Why do this?
The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.
To help you get started, here are a few questions:
You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.
Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.
When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
Here’s what’s true: If the devil can get you to doubt God’s provision, you’ll grab for yourself and miss the wonder of God’s goodness. If the devil can get you to doubt your worth, you’ll strive to prove yourself and miss the gift of God’s assurance and rest. If the devil can get you to doubt God’s timing, you’ll rush ahead and miss the wisdom of His ways. We grow deep and wise when we trust God fully. And yet, and yet, if we miss Him and we mess up, we can know that a plan is already in motion to redeem our story. We won’t get it right all of the time. But praise God; Jesus will neverget it wrong on our behalf. We can trust Him. Rest tonight knowing that God is on your side. He guards and He guides. He’ll always provide. He sees you. He loves you. You can trust Him.
May you determine to travel lighter starting now. . May you—with your God-given authority in Christ—demand that the enemy shut his mouth and leave you alone. May you discern the baggage of man-made obligations and lay them down. May you decide to fling aside your own self-condemning thoughts and wrap yourself up in God’s beautiful grace and righteousness instead. And, may you march on from here, full of faith, empowered by grace, and awakened by God’s love, and walk as one who’s been spoken for by God above. May your latter days be far more blessed than your former days. Jesus is always up to something new. Bless you!
May you pause today to remember that your journey is as sacred as the destination. Whatever next place God has for you, He intends to meet you in thisplace, where you now stand. He’s hidden treasures in the valleys and grace in the shadows. He offers rest amidst the chaos and peace in the middle of the storm. Instead of wishing your life away, pause today and pray, “Lord, open my eyes to see You here. Help me to extract the precious from the difficult. Help me embrace the everyday graces You’ve so richly provided.” May you find joy today simply knowing that you belong to a loving, invested, attentive Savior and He intends to get you safely home. Have a blessed day.
Here’s your assignment for today: May you belly laugh out loud with reckless abandon. It’s good for your soul and it’s great for your health. May you pray with faith and dream wildly with God, the ultimate Dream Maker. May you sincerely give thanks to Him for all He’s provided and for all He’s prevented. May you stand a little taller, breathe a little deeper, and go after your day with a tenacious kind of faith. There’s more right with you than wrong with you because Jesus is alive in you! You’re more blessed than you know. Live strong today!
May you become an expert at caring for your soul. May you know when to tuck yourself under the shadow of God’s wing and when to run to the battle line, knowing He’ll fight for you. May you know when to rest and know when to work. May you refuse worry and embrace faith instead. May you guard against toxic thoughts, attitudes, and mindsets that only weaken you. May you instead fill your thoughts with all that’s lovely, praiseworthy, and true. In the days ahead, may your intimate walk with Jesus inform your decisions, fuel your prayers, and magnify your love. May Jesus fill you up to overflowing from one moment to the next. Have a wise and winsome day!
Sometimes the well dries up before God fills it again. Sometimes the waters overwhelm us before they part before us. If you’re in over your head, out of options, and can’t see a way through, do not fret! Instead, remember what you know about God. He is good. He is faithful. And He’s the master of the miraculous breakthrough. Do not fixate on your problem, fix your eyes on the One who promised never to leave you or forsake you. This is a time for great faith. May faith arise! God bless you!
Maybe you’ve sensed the winds of change starting to blow. Does it stir up fear, the thought of letting go? May you take a deep breath, and remember what you already know about the heart of God: He is good, He is for you, and it’s impossible for Him to fail you. Now exhale your fears and lay hold of faith. That land up ahead is a pleasant land, filled with promise, fresh with purpose. Do not fear change; instead, trust God. He’s only answering your prayers. You can trust Him.
When the arrows zing by you from every direction, firm up your stance, raise your shield, and remember who you are. When you’re tempted to become negatively self-aware because you’re under fire, refuse the temptation and smile instead. Jesus loves you. He is with you in battle. And He’s just training you to stand in this place. Rise up from your melancholy and rejoice instead. In Christ Jesus you’re stronger than you know. Blessings on your day. God is mighty to save and He is working in you.
